Life School
This program focuses on functional life skills. Functional academic skills are imbedded into the daily activities. The program is outcome oriented and student driven. Students programs are developed according other personal needs on a daily and weekly basis.
The Transition Program is for students who have an IEP and have completed 4 years of high school and are at least 18 years old. The goal is to provide students with a variety of possible post school outcomes in a real life community based program.The transition program focuses on 5 domains. These are: work, home, community, recreation and leisure, social-interpersonal skills.
An extension of the High School for those that qualify per the IEP Team discussion includes 1 Special Education Teacher and 3 Para-Professionals for 9 students who have finished high school requirements per the IEP to receive a certificate of completion. A diploma is issued later, the day before age 22 or before as decided by the team. The connection with community includes Opportunity House as well as DHS/DRS.
