Students with disabilities who are eligible for services under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEA) are served in the Sycamore Community Unit School District in a variety of ways. The programs range from Early Childhood through Life School (age 3 through 21) for students with special needs.
Each of the 5 Elementary Schools have special education services provided by a certified Special Educator with Related Services as needed ranging from assistance from a Para-professional, Social Worker, Speech/Language Pathologist to Occupational/ Physical Therapy or services for the Visually/ Hearing Impaired services. Physical needs of the students are provided for by School Nurses and Health Assistants assigned to the various schools. School Psychologists and Special Education Coordinators assist each school with the needs of students from identification to implementation of accommodations and specific program/services as needed.
